How We Review

Reviews are only useful if you trust the method. Here's exactly how we test, score and publish — and the rules we hold ourselves to.

The Short Version

We play with our own money. We track everything. We don't accept "promotional credit" from operators. We disclose affiliate relationships up front. We publish what we find — pros, cons, and the awkward stuff that doesn't fit the marketing — and we revisit reviews every 90 days.

1. Real-Money Testing

Every review on this site is based on actual real-money play. We register through normal signup channels, deposit our own funds (typically SGD 200–800 per review), play across the operator's product range, and withdraw at the end. We don't accept comped accounts or "promotional credit" from operators — these distort behaviour both ways (operators are nicer to known reviewers; reviewers feel obligated). Real money = real behaviour = honest review.

2. Review Window

Minimum 60 days of active play before a full review publishes. For the headline Maxim88 review specifically, we logged 90 days. This rules out one-session impressions and lets short-term variance even out.

3. The Five-Score Rubric

Every review carries five sub-scores plus an overall:

  1. Game Library — count verified, provider mix, RTPs cross-checked against documentation, demo-mode availability.
  2. Bonuses & Terms — wagering ratios, max-bet rules, transparency of T&C presentation, fairness of exclusion lists.
  3. Payments & Payouts — minimum 12 test cashouts measured by stopwatch, payment-rail coverage, fee transparency.
  4. Customer Support — minimum 30 support interactions across live chat and Telegram, response-time medians, agent competence.
  5. Mobile Experience — Android APK install + 40+ session iOS web-app play, latency benchmarks on cellular, parity with desktop.

Each sub-score is on a 1–5 scale to one decimal place. The overall is a weighted average (Payments 25%, Library 25%, Bonuses 20%, Support 15%, Mobile 15%) — payment reliability and library depth matter most because they affect every user.

4. Verification Sources

For factual claims:

  • Licensing status: verified against PAGCOR's public licensee registry.
  • Audit credentials: verified against BMM Testlabs and iTech Labs certificate registries.
  • RTP figures: cross-checked against provider documentation (Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Evolution all publish per-title RTPs publicly).
  • Withdrawal speeds: our own stopwatch measurements, n ≥ 12.
  • Game counts: manually counted on a single calendar day, no operator-supplied figures.

5. What We Don't Do

  • We don't take operator-side content. Operators sometimes pitch ready-made review copy. We don't publish it.
  • We don't accept comped accounts. Operators occasionally offer "review credit" — we decline.
  • We don't bury cons. Every review has an explicit "where it falls short" section, written first-person.
  • We don't auto-renew reviews. Sites that go stale stay published with the original review date and an "outdated" notice; they're re-tested every 90 days regardless.
  • We don't accept paid reviews. No operator can buy a higher score.

6. Affiliate Disclosure

Maxim88 Plays earns affiliate commissions when readers register at Maxim88 through links on this site. This is the primary way we fund the editorial work — playing 90 days of live casino isn't free, and stopwatch-measuring 18 withdrawals takes time. Critically: affiliate commissions don't affect what we publish. We've published this site's Maxim88 review with a 4.7 because that's the score the rubric produces; we've also published the specific cons (max-bet transparency, baccarat bonus contribution, no native iOS) because they exist. The commercial relationship doesn't reach editorial judgement.

If we ever find Maxim88 doing something that drops the overall score below 3.5, we publish that score. (We genuinely haven't, yet.)

7. Corrections

If you spot a factual error, mistaken RTP, broken methodology — message us via the contact page. Confirmed corrections post within 48 hours with a dated "updated" note appended to the original article.

8. Conflicts of Interest

Editorial team members may not hold financial positions in operators they review (beyond a normal playing balance). We don't accept gifts. We don't accept paid travel. Operators that offer these things go unreviewed until we've taken the necessary cool-off time.
